The following pages are intended to show the transformation we made from city slickers to country bumpkins. They will include details of clearing the land, building our home, barn and pond. Some, if not all, are still on going. These pages are under development so please look back often.
The finding and purchase of the land was just the start. We are still building roads and clearing the land 10 years later.During the first year living on the land I was lucky enough to have a neighbor supply me with water. I would fill a 55 gallon drum and then transfer it into the travel trailor as needed. Electricity was provided with a generator . The telephone was a major setback. One might discount the importance of a telephone. Not having one didn't seem important at the start of all this. I could drive the 4 miles to the truckstop and make my calls. We can tell you that the telephone is one of the absolute necessities for construction in a rural area not only for contacting vendors but also from a saftey stand point.
